The Country Decorators $50 Room Makeover

Posted by Primitive Country on Oct 18, 2017

When it comes to improving the look and feel of your homes interior nothing can accomplish more for less than a gallon of paint and a few hours of your time. You can transform a dark gloomy dungeon into a warm and inviting gathering room with 1 or 2 carefully selected colors. When choosing your colors you will want to think about how the color is going to look with the room's flooring.

You can opt for traditional and paint the walls and the ceiling all the same color, you can opt for something a bit more interesting by using 2 colors. For instance, paint 2 walls and the ceiling a light/neutral color and then add some bold color to the remaining 2 walls. Spice it up a bit more by painting all 4 walls and the ceiling one color, then add a 3 color vertical stripe pattern to one wall. This is done by using tape and 2 additional accent colors, tape a varying width pattern on the wall and paint.

Paint Tips

When shopping for paint, remember some colors may appear slightly darker on a full wall than they do on a small color sample.

If a room is small, say 10' x 10', painting it with all darker colors will tend to make it appear smaller than if you were to use light colors.

If going from light to dark, you may want to tint your primer by adding a bit of your new paint color, to limit the lighter color from bleeding through.
