Kathy Phillips started Primitives By Kathy in 1997. Kathy had a strong work ethic growing up. Throughout her high school years, she worked half days for her brother’s business and helped in her father’s machine shop. Two years after Kathy graduated from high school, she and her mother started an art studio and gift shop. Then nine years later Kathy decided to introduce a new business, Primitives By Kathy.
Though Primitives By Kathy started small with only a few items, over the past twenty five years it has grown tremendously, boasting over one thousand five hundred items. Primitives By Kathy got its name from the original products that Kathy made, which were wooden country candle accessories. Kathy carries a much broader product line today which still includes primitive decor but also branches into other types and styles of decor as well. She has items for not only every season, but also for many special days like: Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Hanukkah, Christmas, and even St. Patrick’s Day. Primitives By Kathy also carries a large variety of gift themed products, just to mention a few of the themes: patriotic, birthday, wedding, love, kitchen, laundry, friends, western, and many more.
Primitives By Kathy is also a supporter of local and national charities. From the start of things Kathy has been involved with Goodwill Industries, and in 2017 Kathy started a non-profit organization called Kathy’s Circle of Friends. Kathy Phillips has taken her hard work ethic and talents and has used them to help others and to create a growing and thriving, Primitives By Kathy.
